Salthouse is an old Japanese style house that stands in Shimanami Kaido, one of the well known sea routes in Japan. It was built through self renovating a 70 years old dental clinic in Hakata Island, famous for its salt, soon after The World War 2.
It is now perceived as artistic and cultural building with unique design glass, brass knob, traditional crafts such as Ranma, Bingo Tatami, a ceiling made of bottom plating of a ship. Such nostalgic furnishings are reminiscent of lifestyle established by people in old days, creating its peaceful and cozy atmosphere.

Characteristics of Hakata Island
Hakata Island is a beautiful island surrounded by Seto Inland Sea National Park. Along the sea is a 10 miles a circuit cycling course. Hakata Not having been heavily commercialised, Hakata Island is able to show its own beauty and their own enjoyable lifestyle.
There are access friendly supermarkets, restaurants, postal office, etc.
Inside the house are microwaves and free drinks. Bringing allowed.
Note: Being a hideaway in the residential area, seaside can’t be seen from its location.
